The first stop of our Jezreel Valley field trip was Mount Tabor. Mount Tabor is one of the traditional sites of the transfiguration of Christ found in Matthew 17. Some scholars think that Mount Hermon is where this event would have likely taken place. Here we discussed the power of the Priesthood coming to the earth. We sang Spirit of God and had some time to wander around and ponder on the restoration of the gospel.
To get up to the Church of the Transfiguration you have to take some small vans that are driven by crazy drivers. There are tight switchbacks to get to the top of the mountain and the drivers flew up the hill. I thought that I was going to die right then and there but surprisingly we made it in one piece. Shaken up, but in one piece nonetheless. We also experienced a fight. When we pulled up in our tour bus, we all got out and all I saw was one man yelling at another man behind the gift shop counter. Next thing I know, the man behind the counter jumped over the counter and fists started to fly. Luckily our Pitbull-look-a-like bus driver helped break up the fight. It literally lasted for like a minute, but keep in mind that it was all in a different language so I had no idea what they were fighting over. Brother Schade said that it started over spilt sugar?

Looking out towards Nain. This is where Christ raised the son of the widow from the dead. Unfortunately we were unable to go to Nain due to some construction.
Our next and last stop of the day was at Megiddo. Megiddo was one of Solomon's chariot cities and was later refortified by Jeroboam and Ahab (had to look that one up in my field trip manual...). At Megiddo we were able to look out onto the Jezreel Valley and talk about Armageddon.
